For one group of finance sector workers knowledge not only equals power but also pounds.
A team from Lloyds TSB Offshore has won a general knowledge quiz and the Scottish Widows Charity Challenge Shield and, in the process, helped raise ?1700 for Hospice Isle of Man.
80 colleagues from the Lloyds Banking Group formed into 11 teams – five from Lloyds TSB Offshore and six from Scottish Widows – to attend the quiz hosted by Scottish Widows at the Manx Legion Club in Douglas and supported by a number of leading local retailers. Winning team was One Bank One Winner from Lloyds TSB Offshore.
Scottish Widows’ personal portfolio and investments manager Juan Clarke said: ‘This was the first in what I hope will be a regular challenge as part of our ongoing events organised by our Great Place to Work team. It’s not only a fun way to raise funds for our charity of the year, Hospice, but also for colleagues located at various sites across the Lloyds Banking Group in the Isle of Man to meet informally and forge closer links in our day-to-day working operations.’
?850 was raised on the night which will be matched pound for pound by the Lloyds Banking Group. The proceedings were compered by Scottish Widows quizmaster and Douglas councillor David Ashford. Organisers were Scottish Widows colleagues Ian Bully, Dave Butler, Christine Kerr and Nicola Pope, together with Aaron Connolly from Lloyds Bank TSB Offshore.
