Ashley Allstars v Ballasalla B Ballasalla B led from the first whistle as they beat Ashley Allstars 58 – 17 in the second round of the cup. It was a frantic start with both teams eager to be the first on the scoreboard, but it was Balla who took that honour. The Premier Division side relied on their strong passing to get around the court. The Ashleys didn’t make it easy for their opponents by dominating the second quarter after rotating some of the team’s positions. POTM: Louise Russell (Ashley Allstars); Kim Barks (Ballasalla B) C&S Joinery C v PWC Rubies PWC Rubies won their first Cup Match of the season in style with a 55 – 14 victory over C&S Joinery C. C&S gave themselves several chances to open score during the match but couldn’t convert, leaving the door wide open for the Rubies. With soaring confidence, Rubies made it as difficult as possible for C&S to score by getting in the way of everything. C&S did begin to come back towards the end of the match, but it was too big a gap to overhaul in the end. POTM: Ellie Harrison (C&S Joinery C); Trudy Halsall (PWC Rubies) Vanilla Room v Thompson A Vanilla Room came close to causing the only upset of the day as they looked promising against Premier Division side Thompson A, but eventually lost 20 - 32. Both teams got a pretty steady start but it was Thompson who slowly began build up a lead. Vanilla Room struggled to keep up with the pace of the team in purple, but their consistent shooting kept them in the game. Each quarter the scoring was very tight, but Thompson managed to take it each time. POTM: Kirree Kermode (Vanilla Room); Bree Hutchinson (Thompson A) Missfits v Ballasalla A Ballasalla A continued their unbeaten run this season with a 49 - 43 victory over Misfits in a tough match. Misfits have had a similar run in Division One and both tried to assert their dominance on the game. Balla got the better start, opening up with a string of goals, leaving the Misfits defence very busy. After the first break, however, Misfits found the form that has given them eight victories this season. The match stayed very close, but the Premier Division leaders Balla, were just a step too far for them. Ramsey A v C& S Joinery A C&S Joinery A gave Ramsey almost no chance as they beat them 44 – 14 in their round two cup match. Ramsey started with a bang and looked to have C&S on the back foot after scoring a couple of goals right from the whistle. C&S were soon back in the game and having rotated players at quarter time, seemed to improve. After the initial flurry of goals from the northerners they looked to tire and were unable to keep up with the pace. Some small mistakes began to creep in to the C&S game towards the end, but it wasn’t enough to let Ramsey back in.
