Two New Directors for SMP Accounting & Tax

by isleofman.com 21st January 2011
SMP Accounting & Tax have announced that two of their Senior Tax Managers, Ali Stennett and Amanda Cowley, have been appointed Directors. Both Ali and Amanda have been with the company for over five years and have been instrumental in the development of the company’s tax consultancy services. Ali’s main role is to advise corporate groups, entrepreneurs and their advisers on bespoke international tax strategies. Typically his clients are looking for cross border tax advice and strategies for the mitigation of international withholding taxes. Ali studied Modern History at St Andrews University in Scotland before joining KPMG on their graduate scheme in 1999. Ali qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser whilst working for KPMG in London and joined SMP Partners in 2005. Amanda will continue to lead the tax consulting services offered by SMP Accounting & Tax to private clients and trustees. Amanda has built significant experience advising entrepreneurs, private individuals and trustees on their taxation issues particularly in relation to UK, Irish and Isle of Man taxes. Amanda studied Accounting and Finance at Southampton University and on completing her exams she joined Grant Thornton where she qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser. Amanda joined SMP Partners in 2006. She is also Secretary of the Isle of Man branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Group Tax Director, Justin Scott said, “Ali and Amanda are both highly regarded chartered tax advisers and have a wide level of experience on UK and international tax matters both in relation to personal and corporate tax matters. Following last year’s promotion of Ian Begley and Peter Duchars, these appointments add further capability and stature to the board of SMP Accounting & Tax. We are now very well placed to offer a full tax, VAT and accounting service to our clients and prospective clients whether based on the Isle of Man or further afield.” Ends
