Request For Information

by isleofman.com 24th January 2011
Officers from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team are investigating a theft of fuel from a boat in Douglas Harbour between Saturday 8th January 2011 and Saturday 22nd January 2011. A large quantity of fuel has been siphoned from the boat, which was moored close to the Solway Harvester at the time. Police Constable Watterson of the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team states “For the amount of fuel that has been taken, the offenders would have had to use another boat to dock alongside and siphon it out. Thankfully, fuel thefts from boats are a rare occurrence, however due to economic pressure the cost of fuel is on the rise and this may lead to future thefts occurring or being attempted. I would therefore encourage all boat and vehicle owners to be extra vigilant and take every precaution to secure any fuel and tanks on board.” If anyone has any information in relation to this offence they are urged to contact Douglas Police Headquarters on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. ENDS.
