Treks Appeal To Boost Charity’s Funds

by isleofman.com 27th January 2011
A sense of adventure and sensible shoes could help boost the funds of Junior Achievement Isle of Man. The charity has teamed up with specialist charity challenge event organiser Global Adventure Challenges and is calling all budding explorers to sign up for a trek through the Grand Canyon that will change their lives and boost Junior Achievement Isle of Man’s funds. Development officer Tina Edge said: ‘This a trip of a lifetime to experience one of the natural wonders of the world and, at the same time, raise money to help us equip young people with essential skills for when they leave full-time education. ‘The challenge requires entrants to raise a minimum of ?3,350. This covers flights from the UK to Phoenix, eight fantastic days that include trekking in the Grand Canyon, descending into the Indian reservation of Havasupai which has the last post office in the US still serviced by mule train, a night in Las Vegas, the flight from there back to the UK and a donation to Junior Achievement Isle of Man. Places are limited on these exclusive challenges, so I’d urge people to register as soon as they can and the team here at Junior Achievement will be happy to help entrants with their fundraising events in whatever way we can.’ The challenge is open to anyone over the age of 17. Global Adventure Challenges can arrange to extend participants’ stays in the US with changes to airline bookings made on a first-come, first-served basis that will attract a supplementary charge. Flights on and off the Island are not included. Global Adventure Challenges will be visiting the Island at a date to be advised to give a presentation at a launch event. The date for the Grand Canyon trek is May 12-19 2012. Full details of the challenge can be found at www.globaladventurechallenges.com. Registration forms are available from Tina Edge.
