C&S Joinery A 44 – 29 PWC Rubies
Momentum was never dominated by either team, but C&S Joinery A proved to have the edge as they beat PWC Rubies 44-29. The game started out quite evenly with both teams taking early scores; after the first break it all seemed to change. C&S began to put on the pressure while the Rubies found it difficult to convert their chances. The victory gives C&S a comfort gap between themselves and fifth place. PoTM: Hannah Leece (C&S Joinery A); Kelly Sherratt (PWC Rubies)
Fencibles B 15 – 47 Ashley Allstars
Ashley Allstars made up for their convincing loss against Ballasalla B last week with a solid 47-15 victory over Fencibles B. The Allstars scored immediately and began building their lead from there leaving their younger opposition struggling for possession. A small injury to their goal attack didn’t seem to stop them; Fencibles’ started to lose confidence and their passing became weaker towards the end. PoTM: Georgie Walker (Fencibles B); Katie Debnam (Ashley Allstars)
Toomraiders 50 – 19 Ballasalla B
Toomraiders got off to an impressive start and didn’t stop until they had completely demolished Ballasalla B. It could have been different but failure to covert their chances to the full potential left Balla lagging behind. They did comeback in the third quarter but by that time Toomraiders were well in their stride, making it very difficult to pull back the lead. In the last quarter the match calmed down as the Raiders made sure not to let their lead slip. PoTM: Ellie Quayle (Toomraiders); Kim Barks (Ballasalla B)
C&S Joinery C 30 – 23 Fencibles A
After a week off for the cup matches Fencibles came back fighting and immediately made things difficult for C&S Joinery C. It wasn’t until the second quarter that C&S began to get in the game and reclaim some dominance. Fencibles flagged as they approached half-time, but were soon back on form. Confidence looked to be the key in this match while neither team maintained posession, Fencibles was in the driving seat on the day.
PoTM: Ashley Young (C&S Joinery C); Voirrey Acheson (Fencibles B)
Ballasalla A 50 – 21 Thompson A
Early mistakes from Thompson allowed Ballasalla A through the door and they weren’t able to catch them after that. Unperturbed by their B team's significant defeat earlier in the day,Thompson made a comeback in the second quarter and began to reel Balla back in, but the southerners their efforts were in vain as the difference was too great to narrow. Despite the large gap in the score Thompson did everything they could to make a dent in it with some great shots on goal. In the end it was just too difficult leaving Balla with their unbeaten run intact. PoTM: Ashley Hall (Ballasalla A); Jenny Davis (Thompson A)
