Government Online Services Reaches ?100 Million Milestone

by isleofman.com 31st January 2011
The Department of Economic Development have announced that the Isle of Man Government’s Online Services have processed in excess of ?100 million in payments since its introduction in 2007. Last year saw a significant take-up in online transactions with over ?60 million relating to 20,000 payments and over 60,000 transactions in total processed since January 2010. With this growth in online payment transactions, it is estimated that over 13% of the Government’s revenue for 2010-11 will have been made via Online Services. Minister for Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK, commented: “This is providing significant efficiencies and cost savings for Government by reducing paperwork, administration time and payment costs while providing a secure service for residents and Island businesses transacting with government at a time convenient to them.” Enhancements made in November 2010 improved the way services were accessed. Each service or group of services now have their own ‘home’ page. This describes what the service does and any news, availability and links related to that service without the need to login to Online Services first. Also in November 2010, Online Services’ Individual Tax Service took first place in the Isle of Man Newspaper awards for Excellence in the category for Public Sector Achievement of the Year.
