Around 2.15am on Saturday 29th January 2010 Police attended an address in Port Erin and arrested a man following a report of a serious sexual offence occurring. The 23 year old Port Erin man was subsequently charged with offences of Rape, Indecent Assault and Committing Acts against Public Justice. He will appear in Court this morning. Detective Sergeant Andy Pailor of the Public Protection Unit Investigation Team stated, “A woman reported that she had been the victim of a serious sexual assault which had occurred at the hands of a man she had met earlier that evening. The offence took place at the man’s home address which the police have treated as a crime scene. The assault took place in private and no other person was involved and the public can be reassured that there is no wider threat.” Police urge anyone who has any information which they believe may assist the enquiry team to contact Douglas C.I.D. on 631212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 ENDS.
