Originally based in the Isle of Man, Abacus, who established a Malta operation at the end of 2010, will be partners at two upcoming MGI conferences; “Family Holdings and Asset Structuring” on 28 March 2011 and “Malta in a New Fund Landscape” from 29-30 March 2011, which are being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in St Julian’s, Malta. The first of the two conferences will address the key concerns facing family offices in reflection of the last financial crisis as well as concerns in the management of their family’s wealth by assessing possible solutions, whilst the second event will look into key jurisdictions who are now in the process of transposing the UCITS IV directive into their legal framework and will highlight the key business implications of the UCITS IV directive as a whole. Abacus will be represented in both of their key business areas at the upcoming events. Managing Director, Paul Kneen and Regional General Manager, Mark de Marco will be representing the Fund Administration and Fiduciary services offered by Abacus; Abacus will also be speaking with reference to key regulatory and tax considerations in assessing the structuring of family assets and offices at the “Family Holdings and Asset Structuring” event. Managing Director, Paul Kneen commented: “Following on from the recent establishment of our Malta operation, I believe that it is important for us to take part in conferences of this nature, particularly whilst they cover both our key business areas and offer us the opportunity to promote our services in the Isle of Man as well as Malta. We hope to use the two events to share our knowledge and expertise with those attending, whilst networking and promoting our Fund and Fiduciary Business. MGI SA is a successful organisation in offering informative, significant and current information throughout their conferences and events. The upcoming events contain programmes which we expect to be educational, useful and relevant.” Francois Golbery, Chief Executive at MGI SA & Chairman ESAFON said: “We are pleased to welcome Abacus as a partner at our upcoming conferences in Malta. It is great to work with dynamic companies such as Abacus who equally with our other partners at such events, are professionals in the industry and consequently have a keen interest in what is current and developing within it. Their support enables us to continue providing highly focused and in depth conferences, which address emerging trends and regulatory developments that affect the Fund and Wealth Management Industry. We look forward to working with them.” As a partner, Abacus will be exhibiting at the events, offering guidance and information on both Fund Administration and Fiduciary Services including their related product offerings.
