Manx2.com is launching a special 2011 summer season of flights in a bid to further grow links between the Isle of Man and Anglesey.
The flights, which are seen as a welcome boost for tourism and leisure throughout both Celtic countries, will take off from 1st June and run throughout the summer until 5th September. Services will depart every Friday and Monday, with fares from just ?39 single, with an extra service every Wednesday from 22 July.
The news comes after Manx2.com recently won a four year contract to operate flights between Anglesey and Cardiff. The contract, awarded by the Welsh Assembly Government followed Manx2.com successfully operating the route for seven months in 2010.
Manx2.com Chairman Noel Hayes said: “We had great feedback on the short season we operated last year and so are delighted to again be able to offer passengers a unique opportunity to visit Anglesey by air, this year for over three months. This summer season special is perfect for those who are keen to experience all North Wales has to offer, whether it be for a weekend break or the chance to reconnect with friends and relatives. We were greatly encouraged by the support of RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey County Council and all our Welsh contacts and look forward to continuing to bring the Manx2.com formula so successfully to Wales for 2011.”
Wales Deputy First Minister and Minister for Economy and Transport Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "The return of this link over the summer months is good news for tourism in North Wales and is good news for the airport itself, and I'm sure it will be welcomed by many. North Wales has a great deal to offer visitors, as does the Isle of Man, and I'm pleased to see that this Manx2.com commercial flight will operate again this year."
Geoff Corkish MBE MHK, Political Member for Isle of Man Tourism, said: "The team at Manx2.com continue to be great supporters and champions of tourism for the Isle of Man. Positive demonstration through investing in links such as the route to Anglesey is greatly appreciated. The Isle of Man and Anglesey have so much to offer visitors, and we at Isle of Man Tourism warmly welcome and support this initiative, and look forward to building on the success of last year.”
Clive McGregor, Leader of the Isle of Anglesey County Council said: "I'm pleased Manx2 has decided to run this service again. It proved to be very popular last year and it means that we can get to know our Celtic neighbours on the Isle of Man a bit better as well as potentially bringing more visitors to us here on Anglesey."
When it comes to attractions, North Wales offers something to suit every taste, including castles, stately homes, gardens, lively family parks, art galleries, craft centres, museums and steam trains.
