New Director of Marketing Signals Growth at Manx Telecom

by isleofman.com 4th February 2011
David Smith has been appointed to the newly-created position of Director of Marketing at Manx Telecom. Prior to taking up his new appointment he was Regional Vice President (Caribbean) – Marketing Communications, for Cable & Wireless where he played a major role in developing and launching new brand propositions across 13 countries. He has also held senior marketing positions for telecoms operators in the UK, Channel Islands, the Caribbean, and Pakistan, and was responsible for several award-winning marketing campaigns which resulted in enhanced brand awareness and increased market share. The appointment is the latest development in Manx Telecom’s strategy to strengthen its marketing, sales, and new business development teams, as it gears up to expand its business, both on-Island and globally. Announcing the new appointment, Chris Hall, Manx Telecom Managing Director, said, “I’m extremely pleased to welcome David to the Manx Telecom management team. As a successful international marketeer, he comes to us with a solid record of achievement in both B2B and consumer telecoms markets in the UK, Europe, Asia & the Caribbean. It’s a time of rapid change and growth for us, and I’ve no doubt that he will make a significant contribution to our ambitious plans to develop the Manx Telecom brand, both on and off-Island.” Commenting, David Smith, said, “Joining Manx Telecom at this particular time in its development is one of the most exciting challenges anyone in telecoms could face. The company’s reputation for innovation and service is an enviable one within the telecoms industry, and I hope I can play my part to build on and enhance both the range of its operations, and its reputation across all the markets in which it operates, now and in the future.” David Smith’s appointment follows on from the appointment last year of Marcus Warren to spearhead Manx Telecom’s sales and new business development activities. Since then, the company has created its first ever UK-based sales team, making two new appointments as part of its heightened focus on developing off-Island business. The development of Manx Telecom’s thriving Data Centre operation and services is also expected to be a priority, and the company is currently recruiting a Director of Data Centres who, amongst other things, will be responsible for the development of Manx Telecom’s new Data Centre, plans for which are well advanced. “There’s never been a more exciting time to be in telecoms,” said Chris Hall, “and Manx Telecom is determined to drive more innovation for its customers, and to take advantage of the expansion of the global telecoms market; something which will benefit both us, and the Isle of Man.” - Ends -
