by isleofman.com 7th February 2011
The action was exceptionally good in the junior championships and the Novice Cup for seniors using club equipment. Junior gents recurve turned into a battle to watch between Adam Wright, Bradley Layton and Chris Holmes with only a handful of points between all three archers this meant the lead changed four times with Wright taking the advantage to take the title by two points over Layton and Holmes picking up the last spot on the podium only five points behind Layton. Junior ladies recurve was a fight between Alice Crowe and Charlotte Harris his being Crowes’s first major competition and the kudos of the big event didn’t detour Crowe and she puts in a very impressive shoot to take the title from Harris. The Novice Cup is open to beginners using bows supplied by the Isle of Man Archery Club this was a close fort battle with the three gent’s archers competing Steve Chapple, Adrian Breed and Simon Holtham the lead changed hands three times only for Chapple to hit the top spot from Breed by only five points with Holtham getting the last spot on the podium.
