Ramsey Lifeboat - SOS Day

by isleofman.com 8th February 2011
Ramsey lifeboat station has raised at least ?1325 towards the RNLI charity’s 2011 SOS day appeal, and further donations are expected to boost this magnificent sum. From 10 o’clock until 3 o’clock on SOS day, Friday 28th January, a warming winter barbeque in the boathouse served up breakfast baps, beefburgers teas and coffees whilst the Ramsey volunteer crew enthusiastically washed cars and vans on the lifeboat slipway. Kev Christian, Lifeboat Operations Manager for Ramsey, said “It is a marvellous sum. The crew worked flat out on the day. At one stage cars were queuing along the promenade waiting to be washed. The car wash and barbeque alone raised ?660 and all at the station would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. “We even had two crew members, who were unable to be at the boathouse, raising ?260 by donning “yellows” for their working day at Skandia and Swagelock. “And we need to say thank you the children and staff of Ramsey’s schools and nurseries, and also Braddan and Sulby schools, who made a superb effort by supporting us on the day. Thank you” Ramsey was the first of the Island’s five lifeboat stations to be visited by Radio 3FM’s 15 strong Deeply Dippy SOS day team who took refreshing winter dips at each of the stations. Ends
