Copies of the new Manx Telecom Phone Book and Business Directory are being delivered to every home and business on the Island - and this year it includes plenty of useful advice. In addition, Manx Telecom has also developed the popular online version of the directory - which can be found at www.directory.im. The online directory features the actual directory in flip book form and will soon include the e-Business guide in this easy to use format as well.
Andrew Honour, Manx Telecom Commercial Manager, said:
“The flip books give you the full colour ads presented just like they are in the printed directory. The popularity of the printed directory has not declined as people suspected it would, however, we recognise that for some users having the information electronically is also important.”
New advice sections are intended to be a good starting point for those needing advice on a range of topics - and of course they also include customer service numbers if anyone requires further assistance from Manx Telecom. In the new directory there is also a page of advice on things to consider when using your mobile phone off-Island and ten top tips to help businesses.
Anyone experiencing problems with routers and wireless networks will find troubleshooting tips in the new phone book along with checklists which will help to identify any problems.
It also highlights time-saving ideas such as Star Services, which can be useful for such things as diverting calls, three-way calls and call barring - but the new directory details a lot more Star Services and how to set them up. There’s also advice on how to deal with nuisance calls and on how parents can help their children stay safe online.
Meanwhile, following the success of last year’s campaign, Manx Telecom has confirmed that customers can continue to recycle their old phone books. It’s been agreed that one book per household will be taken with kerbside collections where they apply. As an alternative, residential customers can use the recycling skips available at the island’s civic amenity sites.
Manx Telecom is providing further collection points at both its Head Office reception and High Street shops in Douglas.
The new phone books were brought to the Island by Manx Independent Carriers and Andrew Honour visited the company’s headquarters at Snugborough Trading Estate to see the first batch of directories ready to be dispatched. The books are being delivered to households and businesses by PDC, the fifth year the company has been given the task by Manx Telecom.
