Manx Telecom Making Changes To Fixed Line Charges

by isleofman.com 9th February 2011
On 1st March 2011, Manx Telecom is increasing fixed line monthly rental charges. On average, customers will see an increase of ?1.21 per month (including VAT), adding approximately ?14.50 a year to their bill. This is the first time fixed line rental charges have increased since July 2008. The peak rate calling period will also change from 8am – 6pm week days, to 7am – 7pm week days. There are call charge reductions to International destinations, and calls to Republic of Ireland fixed and mobile numbers will now be charged at the same rates as the UK and Channel Islands. The company stressed that there will be no increase in line rental of its Low User Choice option, which is particularly valued by older customers and those on lower incomes. Announcing the increases Customer Services Director Mike Loundes said, “We appreciate that price increases aren’t popular, however, the increased costs of maintaining the network, plus our massive investment to improve it, means that we have had to review our fixed line charges, the first time we have done so since July 2008.” Manx Telecom is writing to all its fixed line customers to inform them of the changes, and to highlight ways in which customers can reduce their telecoms costs. “There are lots of ways, in which our customers can save,” said Mike. “They can, for example, ensure their service requirements and calling patterns match the best tariff plan. We offer a range of plans, each designed to give a great deal depending on each customer’s specific requirements. Choosing a different billing option is another way to cut costs, paperless billing (Ebill) saves 50p a month, and paying by Direct Debit takes a further ?1 a month off your fixed line charges. Also, if customers place their numbers on the same monthly bill, calls between these numbers will then free when on the Manx Telecom network. We are urging all customers to take a fresh look at things and review their tariff plan and billing – even with the increase to fixed line charges – they could end up paying less each month.” To help customers, Manx Telecom has set up www.manxtelecom.com/savemoney where they will find lots of ideas to help them save money and get more out of their phone. Alternatively, customers can email save.money@manx-telecom.com or call 624 624. Ends
