Two hour course – free
The course mainly constitutes instruction in the resuscitation of unconscious persons.
Loss of consciousness is not uncommon and the presence of someone with even a minimum of training could make the difference between life and death and at the least may prevent brain damage occurring through lack of oxygen.
This is the nineteenth year that the Douglas Rotary Club has sponsored this course. Please note that it will take place at the Red Cross Headquarters, situated at the Isle of Man Business Park, Braddan.(Tel. 639310) There is lots of parking!!
Individuals are warmly welcomed and also companies are invited to send their staff.
Four courses have been arranged as follows
Tuesday 15th February 2011 at 10.00 am and 2.00 pm
Thursday 17th February 2011 at 10.00 am and 2.00 pm
The courses last for about two hours. Tea and biscuits will be provided free of charge.
Rotary itself makes a donation to the Red Cross and attendance at the course is abso-lutely free. Should firms, or individuals attending wish to make voluntary donations to the Red Cross they would of course be gratefully received.
The training is in the hands of qualified Red Cross personnel who are able to take the layman through the techniques in a friendly and relaxed manner.
Not only does the course involve a talk but also actual mouth to mouth resuscitation practice on a specially designed dummy. Strict hygiene is maintained and there is disinfection after each use.
The team of instructors will usually give additional training in First Aid techniques, including how to deal with such problems as bleeding, burns and choking.
In order to maintain a high quality of instruction and a friendly relaxed atmosphere, numbers will be limited.
In previous years, people from all walks of life have attended and staff from a wide range of companies, businesses and professions. All are welcome and in order to book a place, please for preference e-mail gail.peter@manx.net
