All About Gardens (215) v Onchan Outcasts (189); Motorvation G (180) v BRW Racketeers (169)
All About Gardens avenged their previous defeat against Onchan Outcasts and came close to reversing the score as well (188-210 last time out). Mark Harrop started for the home side and had a comfortable win against an impressive Alyen Taggart. Shane Martin always has a close game (in every sense of the word); this time he was up against Mark Henson who overcame the intimate attention of his opponent and came back from two games down to win by two points in a five set thriller. Oscar Hjalmas followed this pairing on court against Keith Whiteway. Oscar was carrying an injury (self-inflicted) picked up during his warm-up; he bravely battled against the pain before succumbing in the fifth. Lawrence Rea took on Outcasts Captain Helen Cave, and narrowly lost the first game before just having the edge in next three. With the match level at two-all it was up to Peter Ginty and Stuart Highy to decide the match. Peter started the better of the two on the cold court and took the first game comfortably. Stuart took the next two closely fought games with Peter keeping ahead in the fourth to level the tie and then taking the all important final two points in the fifth.
Meanwhile a depleted Motorvation G did enough to beat BRW Racketteers thanks to straight set wins for Laura Smith and Lindsey Tickell over Barry Lawson and Andy Dalrymple. John Smith dropped one game in beating Ben Dalglish while Natasha Clarke needed five games to overcome the spirited resistance of Ray Tang.
