Thompson C – 35 v Ashley Allstars – 17 Thompson C managed to move from bottom of Division Two after beating third placed Ashley Allstars. The odds were stacked against the Allstars, starting with only six, but they played well to keep themselves in touch for much of the game. Thompson’s advantage meant they were able to keep their GA back, making it easier for the counter attack. In the circle, Thompson’s GK intercepted a lot of shots, to make sure they stayed well ahead. PoTM: Darcie Farrell (Thompson C); Jessie Mitchell (Ashley Allstars) Anglo Manx – 14 v Missfits – 61 Missfits added another victory to their unbeaten run in the First Division as they demolished Anglo Manx. The game started pretty evenly, with Anglo Manx first on the scoreboard, and the Missfits soon after. It wasn’t long before the Missfits stepped up a gear hardly missing a shot. With everything going the opposition’s way, Anglo Manx became frustrated and mistakes began to creep in, allowing Missfits to capitalise on their advantage. PoTM: Vivia Stawna (Missfits) Toomraiders – 21 v Route 1 – 35 Route 1 was eager to make up for last week’s loss by beating Toomraiders. It didn’t look hopeful to start with Route 1, missing many early shots before finally making one. Toomraiders also made life difficult for themselves, struggling to convert their possession in to goals early on. After a brief lull in the third quarter, Route 1 regained control to win the match. PoTM: Rachel Burge (Toomraiders); Kat Keeling (Route 1) C&S Joinery B - 33 v PokerStars – 28 Both teams looked like they could take this game at any moment, but it was C&S Joinery who took it with a push in the final quarter. PokerStars seemed to struggle at the start, finding it difficult to get a stronghold on possession. C&S dominated the early proceedings, but began to fall behind after the halfway break. With PokerStars bearing down on them C&S had to work hard to keep themselves ahead. PoTM: Sarah Mulgrew (C&S Joinery B); Aimee Kermeen (PokerStars) C&S Joinery A – 43 v Thompson A – 28 The game started with both teams well matched but C&S A slowly built up a lead over the first quarter. Thompson upped the pace and clawed back the gap. C&S seemed to struggle midway through the game allowing Thompson to dominate them, but a flurry in the final quarter ensured they took home a win. PoTM: Lizzie Lennon (C&S Joinery A); Julie Bush (Thompson A) Ramsey A - 21 v Manx Glass Saints – 8 Neither team were able to score at the start, with the ball going up and down the court, but it was Ramsey who finally broke the deadlock. Manx Glass seemed to lose grip on the game once this happened and found it difficult to make use of the time spent in the circle. They came back later on in the game, but Ramsey had already done the damage. PoTM: Colette Gambell (Ramsey A); Kym Hicklin (Manx Glass Saints) Results: Sunday 20th February 2011 Premier: Toomraiders 21, Route 1 35; C&S Joinery A 43, Thompson A 28.
