Postal Kiosk Launched In First Non-Post Office Location

by isleofman.com 1st March 2011
Crosby residents will have a new way to post items, pay utility bills or purchase postage with the launch of a new Pay&Post kiosk in their local pub. The Crosby Hotel is the first non-post office location to have a postal kiosk installed – giving local residents increased accessibility to postal services outside of the traditional working hours plus the convenience of ample parking. With the retirement of the sub postmaster in Crosby in September 2010 and no other suitable applicants available despite Isle of Man Post Office?s attempts to find a replacement, a self-service kiosk has been located within the Crosby Hotel, Crosby. This will enable customers in this area to have access to postal provision again. Steven Taylor Retail Director, Managed Estate, Heron and Brearley Limited, said: “We are sure the self-service postal kiosk will be a popular addition to the Crosby Hotel. Pubs, like post offices, have always been at the centre of Manx communities. As their roles evolve to meet changing needs, Heron & Brearley are delighted to partner with the Post Office to provide our customers with this great new service.” Feedback from users of the kiosks installed in Regent Street Post Office have highly praised the machines for their ease of use, quick transaction times and self-weighing positions. In addition, the postal kiosks have reduced queuing times and offer a choice of service. The machines allow customers to weigh, stamp and pay for packages to be posted quickly and efficiently in a matter of seconds as well as being able to pay electricity, gas or phone bills and government rates. Speaking at the launch event on Monday, MHK Martyn Quayle said „I am sure that the Marown community will benefit enormously from the introduction of these kiosks. We are grateful that the advances in postal technology have given us new ways for customers to access the Island?s postal services. I would like to thank Isle of Man Post Office, Heron & Brearley and Susan and Simon Sinclair for working together to make this all possible? Marty Quine, General Manager Retail Network, Isle of Man Post Office said: “We are always looking to make postal services more widely available away from the traditional 9-5.30pm opening hours. People?s lifestyles have changed a lot over the years and customers expect to have a choice of what time they can transact their postal business. We have tried to provide this by giving customers more opportunity, in terms of time and location for using post office services and increase the opportunity to attract business before and after normal opening hours.” Further postal kiosks are due to be rolled out within the next few weeks in the Wessex Garage, Douglas and Shoprite, Victoria Road.
