This week saw the handicap league throw a Fita 18 into the equation for the archers with seven archers achieving personal bests and shooting over their handicap ratings.
Top spot this week was a very close affair between Adrian Breed, Pauline Hustings and Colin Moore with only two points separating the trio by the end in favour of Breed and Hustings who finished level on points and Moore picking up the last step on the podium and starting to get to grips with the compound bow.
Other personal best were achieved by Kate Dawe from the seniors and from the juniors Adam Wright, Bradley Layton and Alice Crowe.
Aalin George returns back to home this week after being away at the Team GB training camp shooting her new faster bow just shot under her best

Finally on a sadder note older and past club members will be saddened to hear of the death of former Isle of Man Archery Club member Neville Mason. Nev was an enthusiastic participant in all club activities and generous with help for individual members and the club in general.
He qualified as a Beginners Coach, thoroughly enjoying teaching archery skills to others. In latter years he chose to shoot the Longbow, for which, with his stature and his grey beard, he really looked the part.
He served on the club committee for several years and was Archery Team Manager for the Island Games three times. It was a cruel blow to him that failing eyesight forced him to give up the sport he loved. He was not one however, to sit and do nothing.
Now having more time on his hands, he built an impressive model railway layout in his garden, complete with steam trains, another of his passions. An amazing achievement for one who could see very little, especially towards the end of the project.
He had a lively enquiring mind and a well developed sense of humour. Time spent with him was always entertaining. Having been in poor health for the last two years, Nev passed away, at home, on 12th March, aged 82. Those of us who knew him, and were privileged to have his friendship, will miss him greatly.
