It’s all change at the Ballaughton Meadows club, with current Club Coach, Colin Hanbidge leaving at the end of the month to return to his native Scotland. So that means no more Haggis or Scotch pancakes on a club night! Colin has been with the club for three years and in that time has developed a strong junior programme, especially with the Mini Tennis. Children from 4yrs old attend to Come & Try It and parents are encouraged to join in and play with their children. There are currently some sixty children involved every weekend with the red, orange and green ball activities. The club is grateful to Colin for all his endeavours and wish him Good Luck in his new post in Perth.
On Monday the committee appointed Ian Watson, formerly Tennis Development Officer with the IOMLTA, to be the new Club Coach. Ian has been involved in Island tennis for fifteen years and knows the club well. He is looking forward to being directly involved with the club and building on the current junior programme, developing the older juniors and encouraging more senior players to play more often especially in club competitions.
At that committee meeting it was also agreed to offer a ?20 cash back to any member who brings a new player to join. Membership renewal forms have been sent to all current members. There is a discount for all who renew before 31st March 2011. You can re-new On Line (albanyltc.co.uk) and that’s where, any potential members can find all the information about the club, including location. Even after being at the Ballaughton Meadows site for 45 years people still say I didn’t know there was a tennis club there!
A new Club Night (Tuesdays) rota is in place and there will be a committee member on duty. There are also plans to provide food once a month and from April 5th club nights will start at 6.30pm
Ends
Tuesday 15th, March 2011 02:30pm.
