Manx Telecom will become the Island’s only mobile operator to offer free voice call minutes, free texts and free data to its Pay As You Go customers when changes are introduced on April 1st. Simply by topping up as normal, customers will receive free calls and texts to other Manx Telecom mobiles along with free mobile data, all of which will last for 31 days from the date of top-up. Voirrey Barron, Manx Telecom Marketing Communications Manager, said:
“Last year we introduced free unrestricted mobile data for all our Pay As You Go customers to access email, social networks and websites, which proved extremely popular alongside our free text messages. On April 1st our customers will see another first, with free minutes also being included whenever and wherever our customers top-up – a free triple whammy. If customers top-up on a regular basis they’ll also get the extra benefit of the free minutes/texts rolling forward up to a maximum of 9,999 texts or over 166 hours of calls.”
From April 1st Manx Telecom PAYG customers will receive the following free voice call minutes/texts and data when topping up their credit:
• ?5 top-up = ?5 credit plus 150 voice call minutes/texts and 10 megabytes of mobile data.
• ?10 top-up = ?10 credit plus 600 voice call minutes/texts and 100 megabytes of mobile data.
• ?15 top-up = ?15 credit plus 3,000 voice call minutes/texts and 200 megabytes of mobile data.
• ?20 top-up = ?20 credit plus 9,999 voice call minutes/texts and 500 megabytes of mobile data.
Current inclusive on-network texts become inclusive on-network minutes/texts on April 1st with no change in values. One unit is equal to one text to another Manx Telecom mobile or one minute or part thereof to another Manx Telecom mobile. Free minutes/texts and data apply when on the Manx Telecom network.
Call charges from Manx Telecom mobiles have also changed to offer cost savings on longer calls. For example, calls to Isle of Man fixed lines and mobiles currently cost 10p per minute, from April 1st they will cost 15p per minute for the first three minutes and just 5p per minute
thereafter. On a 10 minute call this offers a 20% saving on current pricing.
Voirrey Barron added:
“People are using their mobiles more often, and with the inclusion of free minutes we expect the length of calls to continue to increase. We’ve adjusted our pricing so that the longer the call the cheaper the price.”
