Wildlife Park Open This Weekend Despite Roadworks

by isleofman.com 18th March 2011
The Natural Gas pipeline extension to Ramsey will result in roadworks outside the Curraghs Wildlife Park this weekend, (March 19 and 20). Access to the car park will be via the exit only. Hon David Cretney, Minister for Community, Culture and Leisure, said: ‘While the pipeline is brought across the main A3 road through the Wildlife Park entrance, alternative access arrangements are being made for the many visitors expected at the Wildlife Park this weekend. Signage will be in place to assist drivers who will enter and leave the car park through the present exit. This manoeuvre will be safe to undertake as there will be traffic lights on the main road while the new pipeline is being laid.’ The park is currently open winter hours – Saturdays and Sundays from 10am until 4pm daily. This month’s highlights include the baby meerkats and young penguin, while the Lakeside Cafe’s Sunday roasts are proving popular. The work is being undertaken by the Manx Electricity Authority, which is laying the pipeline from Kirk Michael to Ramsey. It is anticipated they will have completed the section through the Wildlife Park’s car park before the following weekend (March 26-27). Summer opening hours commence on Saturday April 9 with the park open daily from 10am to 6pm. -Ends-
