Auditions For DCU's Miss Saigon

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2011
Hot on the heels of their successful production of My Fair Lady last month, preparations for the Douglas Choral Union’s next production are well underway! In August last year, the DCU announced that, with the continued support of Dougherty Quinn Advocates (DQ), they are to bring the world famous musical, Miss Saigon, to the Gaiety Theatre stage from the 4th – 18th February 2012. Ever since that announcement, excitement and interest has been growing and the DCU are now in a position to announce the audition dates and details. Auditions for the lead characters of Kim, the orphaned Vietnamese bar girl, and Chris, her American G.I. love interest, will take place over the weekend of May 13th – 15th 2011. Auditions for all other roles and ensemble will take place over the weekend June 10th – 12th 2011. All audition requirements are listed on the website of the DCU which is www.douglaschoralunion.im On the Friday evening of both audition weekends there will be a chance to find out more about the show and talk to the Director at an informal ‘meet and greet’ session before the auditions get in to full swing. Chairman of the Douglas Choral Union, Alex Toohey, said: “Naturally we are extremely proud to bring this iconic musical to the Gaiety Theatre and to the Isle of Man. Miss Saigon has been long in the planning and to see it finally come to life is very exciting. The first, and most important step in this process, is to hold the auditions and to make sure we cast this production correctly. These auditions are open to everyone and anyone and you will be made to feel very welcome.” The DCU are holding a ‘Saigon Social’ at the Erin Arts Centre on Sunday April 3rd. The DCU advise that all who are thinking of auditioning should attend the evening. Anyone who has any questions regarding the auditions will be able ask these on the night. As the Erin Arts Centre rely on donations, a charge of ?5 per person will be applied to the evening.
