One Stop Shop for the Perfect Frock

by isleofman.com 28th March 2011
Crossroads Caring for Carers’ popular formal wear shop is on the move, but don’t worry it’s not going far. The ever busy charity shop is moving from the second floor of their charity shop in Victoria Street to next door number 55 Victoria Street on Monday 11th April 2011, opening its doors at 10am prompt, with a launch event to follow on Saturday 16th April 2011. The new premises will give the charity shop more room to showcase its posh frocks and accessories. All items sold in the shop help Crossroads, a local charity, to provide more services to those on the Isle of Man with care needs, giving their carers a well deserved break. Crossroads’ Business Manager Karen Thomson explained “the shop is a fantastic way to find the perfect outfit for a wedding or formal occasion or to just treat yourself without blowing your budget. Items for sale in the shop are high quality donations or are sold on a commission basis. This is a great opportunity to have a look around, clear out your old wardrobe and get ready for summer with a new one.” To celebrate the opening, there will be drinks and nibbles available throughout the day on Saturday 16th April and promotional prizes for lucky shoppers. Join Crossroads in their celebrations and browse their wide range of affordable luxury for the perfect dress for that special occasion. They hold ball gowns, prom dresses and wedding attire with accessories to complement. The move will also help Crossroads’ social enterprise scheme, Community Venture, to expand into the premises the old shop occupied. Currently the scheme occupy half the first floor above the charity shop and provide employment training for adults with learning difficulties, helping them become part of the community, giving them life skills and helping their parent carers have a more sustainable respite break. The money raised in Crossroads’ charity shops goes someway in providing respite care for the island’s carers and people with support needs. This year Crossroads have provided 52,000 hours of respite care to carers and 52,000 hours of services, 10,000 hours of that care comes from the public’s support through the charity shops. Look and feel fabulous by supporting your local community whilst you find an outfit for your next night out. Crossroads’ charity shops on Victoria Street and Prospect Terrace are open Monday – Saturday 10am–4pm. For more information please contact Crossroads on 673103 or email mail@crossroadsiom.org. Ends
