UK Archery Report

by isleofman.com 4th April 2011
The Islands top two Lady Compound Shooters, Sarah Rigby and Aalin George travelled to Meridan in the West Midlands over the weekend. The event was Meridan Archery Club’s Pre Season FITA Star, a popular World Record Status tournament. The Manx duo got their seasons of to a fantastic start despite the turbulent weather (starting out as overcast, then bright sunshine, followed by thunder & lightening and finally marble sized hail stones). The pair having traded places all through the Winters Indoor Season once again battled it out - this time outdoors. On this occasion Custom Built Archery backed Aalin had the upper hand with a final score of 1349 a massive PB (+16 points!!) to record her first ever Grand Master Bowman Classification score (three are required to claim the award). She dominated the Junior class, finishing 5th* overall in the Senior Ladies Event. Just a few points back was Sarah with a final score of 1338 (her first Master Bowman Score of the year) finishing in 6th* in the Ladies Compound Event. A very exciting & competitive outdoor season beacons for the duo, who are trading places on what seems like a weekly basis at present. *Subject to final classification. Ends
