Crosier Consultation

by isleofman.com 5th April 2011
The annual consultation of Church of England Bishops’ Chaplains has been hosted on the Isle of Man. The consultation was organised by Gill Poole, Chaplain to the Bishop of Sodor and Man, at St John’s Mill at St John’s. Twenty-two bishop’s Chaplains came from Dioceses throughout the Church of England and included the Chaplains of the Archbishops of York and Canterbury. During their three day stay on the Island they received hospitality from the Scripture Union Ministries’ Trust team at their community base, Mallmore, in Port St Mary, and from the President of Tynwald who introduced them to the historic and forward-looking Manx democracy when they were received by him at Tynwald for a lunchtime reception. The Bishop of Sodor and Man, Robert Paterson, and his wife Pauline, joined the Chaplains for dinner where Bishop Robert spoke about the Viking and Celtic history of the church in the life of the Isle of Man. One of the visiting group, who has some Manx family connections, commented that it was ‘wonderful to be fed so well, looked after so well and to experience the fabulous hospitality of the Island.’ ENDS
