Abacus employees; Bryony Harrison, Claire Matthews, Karen Duffy, Kate Corkill, Lesley Johnston, Lorraine Boyd, Nitaya Gribbin and Therese Ryan, abseiled 110ft down a cliff face, to raise money for Age Concern Isle of Man at a sponsored abseil event, organised by Age Concern Fundraiser, Tracy Kinrade. Marketing Administrator at Abacus, Lesley Johnston said: “There was a mixture of emotions from our abseilers on the day but we had a fun time taking part in the challenge. We are delighted to have raised such a good amount of money for Age Concern Isle of Man. They do commendable work around the island and we are glad to have been able to support them.” Age Concern Isle of Man, is a long established Manx registered charity which helps older people in the community. Tracy Kinrade, Fundraiser at Age Concern Isle of Man said: “Each year we have to raise ?800,000 every year to support our current services, which include; day care centres, the operation of mini buses, meals on wheels, lunch clubs and lifelong learning centres. We receive no money from Age Concern UK, which means that all the money we raise on the island, stays on the island. “We would like to express our thanks to Abacus for taking the time to get involved in our recent fundraising event. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and everyone did incredibly well with their abseiling. The support received was overwhelming and is hugely appreciated.” Abacus will be holding a small raffle at their staff “Year End Bash” event on Friday (8 April 2011); the monies from which will also be added to the funds they have raised for Age Concern Isle of Man. - ENDS -
