Isle of Man Tourism’s ‘On Your Doorstep’ exhibition, held at the Villa Marina on Saturday 26th March in association with 3FM, has been hailed a great success, attracting over 1800 visitors.
The event, which was the first one of its kind in the Isle of Man, showcased attractions and events on offer all year round with the aim of encouraging residents to venture out and discover all the Island has to offer. The exhibition was also intended for local people to encourage friends and relatives to come over and see for themselves the extent of activities available.
Many of the Island’s activity providers were exhibiting including Isle of Man Railways, Adventurous Experiences, The Venture Centre, 7th Wave, Manx National Heritage, Curraghs Wildlife Park, Milntown Estate and Gardens and Groudle Glen Railway. Visitors to the exhibition have reported that they were delighted with the level of information available together with the wide range of attractions on display. To add to the huge amount of information on display, the added attractions of live music, birds of prey and exclusive show offers, were welcomed by visitors.
Minister for the Department of Economic Development, Allan Bell MHK, said:
‘On Your Doorstep’ was a great opportunity for residents to meet some of the business representatives involved in the many attractions and leisure activities on the Isle of Man. I know they are always delighted to share their knowledge and will always go out of their way to give both locals and visitors a warm Manx welcome.
‘I hope the weather is kind to us this coming season so that everyone can have a great time exploring the great sites we have to offer.’
Member for the Department of Economic Development responsible for Tourism, Geoff Corkish, MBE, MHK, added:
‘Now the Easter holidays are approaching there is no better time to enjoy the numerous attractions whilst taking in the spectacular countryside around us.
‘Having been to the ‘On Your Doorstep exhibition’ and seen all that is available on our magnificent Island, I hope everyone will now take the opportunity to get out and explore, discover and have fun.’
The Isle of Man’s attractions are now open for the season so don’t forget your camera before setting out and take the opportunity to upload your videos, pictures and comments to our Visitor Review page www.visitorreview.com/isleofman .
