Jewel Tech Retain B League Title

by isleofman.com 12th April 2011
This re-arranged fixture between the two best teams in recent seasons was always destined to decide this years League ``B`` winners. The previous fixture only two weeks earlier was a tight affair with the boys from Jewel Tech recording a narrow win. This time it was for the title, but the old boys of Island Exhaust were up against it. Not only did they have to play fantastic squash if they wanted to win the match, but with over 60 points behind in the table, they also had to play catch-up to win the title. Good wins for Gordon Beresford and Jason M`Causland over Les Callow and Lee Loughran respectively, putting the title tantalizingly within Jewel Tech’s grasp. A minor set-back then ensued as Garret Du Toit lost to Ian Sheard, but Shaun Callow`s win over Peter Sharples made the final game of the night and the season a formality. Carl Albright dotted the i`s and crossed the t`s with a predictable close affair against Dave Griffiths. A good win on the night and the title once again belongs to last year’s winners, Jewel Tech.
