Golden Wedding Benefits Peel Lifeboat

by isleofman.com 12th April 2011
Following the recent Golden Wedding celebrations of Herbert and Frances Watterson in Peel, Peel lifeboat received ?605 in lieu of presents. Herbert and Francis a well known couple in Peel are both committee members of Peel lifeboat and at their Golden Wedding celebrations at Peel Golf Club recently they decided to ask guests to donate to Peel lifeboat rather than buy presents. This resulted in the magnificent sum of ?605 being presented to the branch. Herbert and Frances were married in St Andrews church Douglas on 3rd. April 1961 with Ian Cannell as Best Man. The reception was held at the Castle Mona where Frances was a housekeeper when they both met. Peel Ladies Guild Treasurer Margaret Kelly received the money and said” the branch was most grateful for the generous donation and hoped that other people would maybe do the same when celebrating special events” to assist the running of the RNLI voluntary service.
