Tim Venables Five Aside Football Tournament

The 'Tim Venables Benevolent Five Aside Football Tournament' is a competition set up with the intention of being the inception for an annual five aside tournement, raising funds for Charitable causes on the Isle of Man. The inaugural event has been planned with proceeds flowing from the event going to support the medical care of Tim Venables, a Manx student who sustained life threatening injuries in the 2010 Manx Grand Prix. For the 2011 event St Johns football club have generously provided their all weather astro turf pitch for the competition. The competition will take place on Bank Holiday Easter Monday (25th April), with the format of an initial group stage with 4 groups.The top 2 teams from each group will progress to the 'Cup' competition, with the third placed team from each group entering the 'Shield' competition. Prizes will be provided for the winners of the Cup and Shield competitions, these will be announced soon. Although open to both males and females the competition is Strictly Over 18 Only. he Tim Venables Benevolent Football Tournament will take place on Bank Holiday Easter Monday, which this year falls on the 25th April. The competition will start with 4 groups, split between the two five aside pitches at St Johns Football Club. Following the group stage the top 2 teams from each group will enter will into the 'Cup' competition, while the third placed teams will be entered into the 'Shield competition. The competition is set to start at 12 midday on the 25th April, and is expected to last through the afternoon, with the finals of the Cup and Shield competitions set to take place around 4pm. In the event of a draw after the 10 minutes allocated a penalty shoot out will commence, with the winner being declared after 3 penalty kicks per team, or in the event of a draw after the 3 kicks the penalties will continue as a knock out until one team is declared victor. Prizes will be provided for the winners of the Cup and Shield competitions, these will be announced soon. The competition draw for the preliminary round will take place 5 days in advance of the tournment, and time slots for each teams first game will be released. This is in order to enable teams to arrive in advance of their first game. The competition is strictly over 18, but is open to both males and females. The entry cost for the competition is a minimum donation of ?25. In order to enter the competition a team must first send their team name and players names, along with email contact and contact number to Andrew Newton, either via email - andrew.newton36@lawcol.co.uk - or via telephone - 07514811413 To pay the entry fee stated above the minimum donation of ?25 must be delivered to Jocelyn Parish, 11 Farmhill Gardens, Springfield, Douglas, IM2 2EG, by Monday 18th April 2011. An Insurance waiver, declaring consent to your own risk by taking part in the tournament will be available on the website to be printed off and signed, and brought to the competition on the day. There will be forms available on the day for teams who have not brought them. This is a 5 aside competition however substitutes will be allowed if required. Ends
