by isleofman.com 20th April 2011
Police would like to remind people of the dangers of jumping into the sea around the island following a teenage male being pulled from the Sea on Douglas Promenade on Tuesday 19th April 2011. This type of activity always increases when the weather improves and particularly if the improvement in weather coincides with the local young people being off school The male who was part of a group of friends who had jumped off the sea wall on Loch Promenade in to the calm sea, he immediately got into difficulties and was fortunate a friend was able to rescue him and bring him to shore where he received treatment from paramedics who had been called. PC Taylor from the DNPT says " we would like to take this opportunity to raise the awareness of the dangers of jumping into sea, the young male involved in this incident was very lucky he was able to be pulled from the water in a timely manner, I would urge parents who are aware of their children jumping into the sea to stress the dangers of such activity and deter them from taking any unnecessary risks.” Ends
