Archery Report

by isleofman.com 26th April 2011
This week's fun shoot was the Easter Egg double clout shot in the glorious Manx sun. What more could we have asked for but the day started with Tony Hartley dropping his riser on the tarmac car park, luckily he didn’t damage it (only to get more sight mark chippings). The gents event had the largest entrants list with Tony Hartley and Michael Tancurin starting well with their first end all scoring followed by Peter Mumford and Jon Rutland having a four arrow scoring end. The still recovering Splinters backed Dave Berry was in over-shoot mode and missed with his first sixteen arrows and just behind them was a trio of first timer clout shooters Steve Chapple, Frank Vaughan and James Morgan. Ladies event saw Anne Rutland in storming form hitting the clout flag on numerous occasions (that will cost her, new flag need) followed this time by Pauline Hustings who also is a first time clout shooter. Short ladies event saw Kate Dawe put in a great score for her first clout followed by Joy Gough using a club bow with 20lbs limbs when Peter Mumford said “I’m using ?20 limbs also”. Junior’s event saw Chris Holmes stormed away from Adam Wright a first time clout shooter Holmes only having three misses definitely helped his cause. Now to the roll of honour Gents Champ Tony Hartley gets the chocolate egg and the wine (say no more), Michael Tancurin second with Dave Berry third. In the ladies Anne Rutland gets the chocolate egg and the wine, Pauline Hustings second in the short ladies, Kate Dawe gets a chocolate egg with Joy Gough second. In the Juniors Chris Holmes picks up the chocolate egg and Adam Wright second. And now the role of dishonour picking up the wooden spoons or chocolate bunnies seeing it’s Easter, James Morgan, Pauline Hustings, Joy Gough and Adam Wright all pick up this coveted award. Other awards were biggest bruise, there was a fight over this one between Jon Rutland and Joy Gough for this and the judge ruled in favour of Joy. The husband and wife bet between Jon and Anne Rutland was who scored the least would cook diner and looking at the scores Jon lost this one as well with Anne scoring almost double. Gents 165 Meter Clout Tony Hartley 60 10 194 Egg & Wine Michael Tancurin 59 6 182 Dave Berry 56 7 174 Peter Mumford 50 4 142 Jon Rutland 45 4 122 Steve Chapple 41 5 120 Frank Vaughan 35 2 90 James Morgan 32 3 78 Chocolate (Wooden) Spoon Ladies 125 Meter Clout Anne Rutland 57 24 229 Egg & Wine Pauline Hustings 27 1 57 Chocolate (Wooden) Spoon Ladies Short Clout Kate Dawe 35 3 97 Egg Joy Gough 16 0 29 Junior 100 Meter Clout Chris Holmes 69 19 241 Egg & Chocolate Bunny Adam Wright 14 0 28 Chocolate (Wooden) Spoon Next weeks round will be a full Fita for all seniors and a short metric 3 for the novice and junior competitors all competitors are asked to help with the field setup at 9:30 for sighters at 10:30. - Ends -
