From a 1909 Riley to a 2011 Porsche – and Eighty-One Cars Inbetween
Thursday 28th, Friday 29th & Saturday 30th April 2011
This Thursday (28th April) sees the start of the three-day The Manx Classic, a three-day sprint and hillclimb event for vintage, classic and modern sports cars.
Sponsored by Celton Manx Limited, the Manx Classic will be held at three separate venues across the Island: The Governor’s Sprint in Douglas on Thursday 28th April; The Sloc Hillclimb, north of Port Erin on Friday 29th, and the Lhergy Frissell Hillclimb in Ramsey on 30th April.
Local and UK-based competitors will be vying for the ‘Fastest Time of Day’ honours in a great variety of vehicles, dating from 1909 to the present day.
Spectators will see a wonderful range of mouthwatering cars take to the Manx roads for this three-day event, with famous marques such as Bugatti, Bentley, Delage, Porsche, Ferrari, Sunbeam and Riley, alongside a number of ever-popular Ford Escorts, MGs and Austin Minis, as well as a good contingent of Caterham sports cars - to name just few of the eighty-three cars due to take part.
Governor’s Sprint – Thursday 28th April
Roads Closed: 12 noon to 3pm and then 6pm to 9.30pm
Starting from the TT Grandstand on Glencrutchery Road and travelling through Governor's Dip to finish on the A18 Mountain Road, at The Nook on the TT Course 'old road', near to West Drive.
The Sloc – Friday 29th April
Roads closed: 9.15am to 4.30pm
Taking in a section of the A36 Sloc Road, north of Port Erin and south of the Round Table.
Lhergy Frissell – Saturday 30th April
Roads closed: 9.15am to 4.15pm
From Barrule Park, running out of Ramsey on the TT Course, taking in Ramsey Hairpin, Waterworks and Gooseneck and out towards Guthrie's Memorial.
