Public Meetings for the Parishes of Lezayre and Jurby

by isleofman.com 27th April 2011
The Parochial Church Councils of Lezayre Church and Jurby Church together with the Manx Church Commissioners are to hold public meetings to discuss the future of their church buildings. The move comes after several months of careful consideration because, in both cases, the congregations have been finding it increasingly hard to meet the costs of maintaining the churches and of keeping them reasonably warm in winter months. One consequence of this is an increasing burden of responsibility on the membership. Before making any decision on the future the churches would like to outline the facts of their situation and get the views of their communities. The meeting for Jurby is to be held in Jurby Parish Hall on Monday 9th May. In Lezayre the meeting is to be held in Kirk Christ on Wednesday 25th May. Both start at 7.30pm. The Bishop will chair both meetings which are open to all members of the public, whose views will be welcome. - Ends -
