First Town Centre Manager for the Isle of Man

by isleofman.com 28th April 2011
Douglas has the first town centre manager in the Isle of Man after Gill Anderson’s role as development assistant with Douglas Development Partnership expanded to accommodate her increased responsibilities associated with the regeneration and management of Douglas town centre. As town centre manager Mrs Anderson, who joined the Partnership in 2010 after a number of years working in the Island’s finance sector, will be working with retail outlets, businesses and community groups to co-ordinate events and activities to help attract greater numbers of visitors and investors to Douglas and generally ensure the town centre is presented to a high standard. Development manager Chris Pycroft said: ‘The town centre manager movement is widespread in the UK as it not only helps towns realise their potential for business, investment and leisure, but also stimulate greater community involvement. Here Gill’s expanded role reflects the heightened focus on Douglas town centre regeneration and the part being played by the Partnership and Douglas Borough Council in the Destination Douglas process to create a vibrant and viable town centre for future generations.’ Gill Anderson, Douglas Development Partnership, Chesterfield House, 7-13 Victoria Street, Douglas. 612022. ganderson@ddp.org.im. www.ddp.org.im Ends
