The Villa Marina Arcade and gardens will play host another Brass Band Season beginning on Tuesday 3rd May with Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band.
The Brass Band Season is a popular annual feature of the Arts Council’s programme of events, providing an opportunity for the brass bands of the Isle of Man to play regularly throughout the summer in the grounds of the Villa Marina.
All of the Island’s brass bands will perform during the season. Concerts take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm in the Villa Marina Arcade and on Sunday afternoons at 3pm in the Villa Marina Gardens if the weather is fine. In the event bad weather Sunday concerts move to the Villa Marina Arcade.
This year the season runs until the middle of August. Admission is free, although the performing band may take a collection.
The Brass Band Season, supported by the IoM Arts Council, starts at 8pm in the Villa Arcade on Tuesday 3rd May and admission is free.
Quintin Gill, MHK, Arts Council Chairman said: “The Arts Council is very proud of the Brass Band Season which goes from strength to strength. Bands often play to full audiences and provide popular, well loved music free of charge and in a beautiful setting. Many of our brass bands are award winners and have many young members, for whom it is a vital training ground. The Arts Council is delighted to support this showcase for our talented brass musicians.”
