Tough Decisions for Sir Miles in Isle of Man Bank Easter Egg Contest

by isleofman.com 28th April 2011
Sir Miles Walker had to take many tough decisions during his ten years as the Island’s Chief Minister but he – and Lady Walker – also had some hard thinking to do when asked to judge the Isle of Man Bank children’s Easter egg competition. Assignment for the participants was to design and colour a picture of an Easter egg and Sir Miles and Lady Walker were on hand to judge the contest. They returned to the Bank to present the winners with their prizes. The event was organised by the Isle of Man Bank’s Port Erin branch which provided prizes for the first three in each of two categories. Manager Shaun Gritton said the competition had been organised by Senior Customer Service Officer Catherine Meehan who was pleased with the response from local children, over 30 entries having been received. Said Mr.Gritton: ‘We provided a picture of a blank egg and it was up to the children how they designed and coloured it. ‘Some of the children decided to paint their eggs, others used colouring pens or crayons and there were also some lovely collages. It was entirely up to them but the standard of entries was really excellent.’ The winners received ?20 gift vouchers as well as Isle of Man Bank piggy banks and a variety of Easter chocolate. There were also goodie bags for the second and third in the different categories. Results: 3-5 years – 1, Charlie Elliott; 2, Sacha Callow; 3, Poppy Irving; 6-8 years: 1, Nell Kennaugh; 2, Leah Callow; 3, Joshua Watterson. ENDS
