Search for a Star 2011 has raised more than ?6,500 for Age Concern Isle of Man. At a reception at Douglas town hall hosted by the Mayor of Douglas Ritchie McNicholl George Campbell, community affairs manager for Alliance and Leicester International, the competition’s sponsor, presented the charity’s chief executive George Quayle with a cheque for ?6,840, the sum representing the proceeds from the event boosted by matched funding from the bank. Councillor McNicholl said the competition continued the ‘great tradition’ of singing in the Isle of Man as he had seen at this year’s Manx Music Festival and provided an excellent opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents. Search for a Star winner was Simon Lynch. Runners-up were Natalie Cretney, Liam Moorhouse, Lauren Simpson and Jodie Teare. - Ends -
