Diocesan - Bishop's Court Chapel

by isleofman.com 9th May 2011
On the evening of Sunday 8 May at Bishop's Court Chapel, Bishop's Court, Kirk Michael a congregation of over 100 people attended a Bishop's Service of Sung Evensong using the Book of Common Prayer. The service led by Bishop Robert and he was assisted by The Revd Canon Malcolm Convery, from the Parish of Kirk Michael and The Revd Canon Cyril Rogers from the Parish of Ballaugh. A joint choir from these parishes led the singing. Historically the boundary between the parishes of Michael and Ballaugh runs through the chapel. Thus in 17th century it was not unknown for the Vicar of Michael to officiate at the western end and the Rector of Ballaugh to be at the other! The service was very kindly hosted by the present Bishop's Court owner, John Morphet, and through his hospitality the Bishop will hold a further two services later this summer. - Ends-
