Vandalism to Ramsey Public Conveniences

by isleofman.com 10th May 2011
Ramsey Town Commissioners have issued an apology after public toilets in Ramsey were closed earlier than scheduled due to vandalism over the Easter weekend. Conveniences affected principally were those in Coronation Park and adjacent to the Lakeside Centre in Mooragh Park, where vandalism took the form of water damage and dispersal of toilet rolls. Despite the cleaning contractor having made regular visits to both sites these acts had prompted complaints from the public to the Commissioners that the toilets were flooded and dirty. As a consequence increased cleansing costs have been incurred in a measure to rectify the situation and on occasions the toilets have had to be closed due to the extent of cleansing required. The Commissioners noted that whilst there was little permanent damage the manner of the attacks had proved distressing, particularly for older people and parents of young children wishing to use the facilities. The Commissioners would ask any person witnessing such acts to contact the Police or the Commission immediately and have issued a reminder that a reward is offered for any information which results in a successful prosecution being obtained for damage to Commissioners’ property.
