Former Managing Director of Scottish Provident International, Lillian Boyle, has joined the board of the Douglas-based Caledonian Fund Services (Europe) Limited as a non-executive director.
Welcoming Lillian to her new role, Caledonian’s Managing Director Tina Corteen said she and the other non-executive director, Alan Smith, would be able to draw on their new colleague’s wealth of experience and expertise within the investment and insurance industry.
Lillian has held various high-level positions within her profession, both in the UK and Isle of Man – notably as UK president of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Currently, she sits on the Professional Oversight Board of the UK Financial Reporting Council.
She is at the end of a two years term as president of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment in the Island and has also been chair of the Manx Insurance Association. Outside work she is deputy chair of the Manx MS Society and Trustee of a UK Benevolent Fund.
Lillian, who lives in Braddan with husband Robert, is a lawyer by profession and began her career as an in-house lawyer and company secretary working for such major players within the insurance sector as Allied Dunbar, Scottish Amicable and Scottish Mutual.
It was after working for the latter company, based in Glasgow, that she moved to the Island in 1994 to join Scottish Provident where she initially headed up the Legal and Compliance function as well as acting as company secretary. She then graduated to Director of Corporate Services and became managing director in 2003, a position which she held for five years.
Lillian is no stranger to Caledonian having served as a non-executive director on its sister company Caledonian Trust (IoM) Ltd – headed up by Sandra Georgeson – for the past two years. She said: ‘I have really enjoyed my involvement with the trust side and now look forward to working within another area of the Group, and Tina in particular, as she takes the company forward.’
• The Caledonian Group was founded over 40 years ago, establishing a presence and opening an office in the Isle of Man in 1995. Caledonian is currently based at Circular Road in Douglas where it employs 18 staff on the fund administration side and 15 in the trust operation.
• For the past two years it has been voted best fund administrator in the Isle of Man by the financial website Fund Domiciles.com.
