Mayor Launches 135th Year of Douglas Horse Tram Service

Douglas Mayor Ritchie McNicholl launched the 135th year of the Douglas horse tram service on Monday May 9. The first tram operated was number 44, known as the ‘Royal’ tram; in the Sixties, the Queen and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother had been passengers and the Duke of Edinburgh had, on one occasion, driven the tram. Season tickets, which allow unlimited travel on the horse trams for the whole season, are priced ?20 for adults, ?15 for senior citizens and ?10 for children under 16 and can be purchased online at www.douglas.gov.im or by telephoning Douglas Town Hall on 696344. This year’s service will run daily until September 18 from 9am to 6pm. Ends
