Adult Services Day at Eastcliffe Resource Centre

by isleofman.com 13th May 2011
Eastcliffe Resource Centre recently held a Community Friendship Day at their Centre on Victoria Road, Douglas. The event was organised by staff to raise funds for garden furniture and other outdoor equipment for the service users who grow vegetables, herbs and a wide range of garden flowers. The dedicated team of staff were on hand to serve handmade scones (compliments of cook Debbie Clucas) along with other delights. The event was very well-attended by members of the public and the weather was warm and sunny. As well as afternoon tea, craft stalls, handmade greetings cards, raffles, jewellery, phone charms, lucky dips, Easter eggs and gifts for sale, there were some very colourful garden planters made by the service users at ERIC (Eastcliffe Resource Industrial Centre – based at the Ballamona Farm site, Braddan next to Estates). Bill Malarkey MHK Member for Social Services attended the event and commented: “It was good to see what a valuable resource Eastcliffe is for people with learning disabilities and how the service users ably supported by the staff show just how much they can achieve at the facility. We a had a wonderful day and a magnificent ?404.74 was raised. Ends
