The Celton Manx Classic

by isleofman.com 16th May 2011
Celton Manx Executive Director Bill Mummery was delighted to mark the start of the 2011 Celton Manx Classic by flagging-off the first cars from the TT Grandstand pit lane. In glorious spring sunshine Mr Mummery marked the beginning of a fantastic three days of competition which saw 84 cars spanning twelve decades taking part in one sprint and two hill climbs. On the final day of the event Mr Mummery attended the prize ceremony at The Old Courthouse and presented the category winners with their trophies. He said: ‘I was delighted to be given the honour of flagging-off the first cars of the Manx Classic 2011. The weather was fabulous throughout which only added to the great atmosphere created by the competitors, spectators, marshals and officials. It was fantastic to see such a variety of vehicles from Edwardian to modern times and I enjoyed meeting the adventurous racers at the evening prize ceremony. We at Celton Manx are pleased to be part of such a popular community event.’ ENDS
