Island Tag Rugby Champions Trying for National Title

by isleofman.com 16th May 2011
Scottish Widows Isle of Man Primary School tag rugby champions, Scoill Ree Gorree, will be looking their best when they compete in the English National Primary School tag rugby tournament later this year. Scottish Widows, which has sponsored the Island finals for the past four years, has provided the team with polo shirts and fleeces and assisted with travel costs for when they travel to Rugby School in Warwickshire in July as one of the top 20 schools playing for the title National Primary School tag rugby champions. The champions will also have the opportunity to play at Twickenham stadium before one of the England Investec games later in the year and be guests of England Rugby for the day. The kit was presented to the team at Scoill Ree Goree, Ramsey by Scottish Widows managing director Dean Waddingham, a former rugby player with the Leicester Tigers. Mr Waddingham said: ‘Every year we have sponsored this event I have been impressed by the high standard of play of all the qualifying teams and the tremendous support they receive from their schools. Scottish Widows is pleased to sponsor the tournament as we see it being a good fit with our long-term commitment to support young people’s sporting and educational endeavours in the Isle of Man. Scoill Ree Gorree fielded two excellent teams in the finals and I wish team B every success when they compete at national level in July.’ Ends
