Appleby Supports Mount Murray Junior Golf Team

by isleofman.com 19th May 2011
Appleby Isle of Man has generously provided a donation to Mount Murray Golf Club to support their junior team. The funding enables the club to provide branded polo shirts and baseball caps for each member of the team. Mount Murray Juniors are the current holders of the Vimto League Trophy (this year renamed the Agrimark Britvic League) and remain at the top of the table compared with the Island-wide competition. The team ranges in age from 12 to 17 years old and consists of some very talented young players. Indeed, Lewis Dening, the junior team captain, celebrated his 17th birthday in fine style on Sunday 15th May by achieving his first hole-in-one. He achieved this at the 18th hole at Douglas Golf Club – a par four – during a league match. Sean Dowling, Isle of Man Office Managing Partner, commented: “This is an exciting time to begin Appleby’s sponsorship of the Mount Murray junior team. These talented young golfers are in a strong position to defend their island team title, and we wish them all the best this season. Good luck, boys – it’s great to see the Appleby shirts looking so smart and striking!” ENDS
