Arg Beiyn Veterinary Sponsored Walk

by isleofman.com 19th May 2011
Edric Cross one of the senior vets from Arg Beiyn Veterinary Practice is doing a sponsored walk in July to raise money for the two charities that Arg Beiyn are supporting this year; Pets Aid League and Riding for the Disabled. Over 21 days, from 9 to 29 July, Edric will be walking part of the GR5 European long distance footpath from Lake Geneva to Nice. This walk is some 420 miles long and traverses the French Alps all the way to the Mediterranean coast. He is walking alone and will be unsupported for the entire walk mostly camping and carrying all his equipment and food. Edric says that he is really looking forward to this challenge though having walked in the Alps before he knows that the 20 mile a day average is tough and completing the walk will be hard work. He says “Each year at Arg Beiyn we choose two charities to support, raising money in different ways throughout the 12 months. This year I wanted to set a personal challenge which would be really tough and if it can help these two charities which I have long admired all the better.” Sponsor forms are available at the Onchan, Ramsey and Peel branches of Arg Beiyn and there is also the possibility of winning a prize by guessing the actual mileage he will walk in the 21 days.
