Netball Summer League Round-Up Week 3

by isleofman.com 24th May 2011
SMP Ballasalla and Toomraiders were this week's high scorers with 46 and 43 against their opponents. SMP Ballasalla pipped their main competition to the top this week as they beat the league trailers Angels 1 with a fantastic 39 goal advantage. Route 1’s 26 - 6 win over 6th placed Missfits wasn’t enough to maintain position but the race isn’t over yet. Toomraiders were the winners of the week with a whopping 43 – 7 victory over Manx Glass Saints pushing them 2 places up the leader board and securing 3rd place. It is hard to see a team with the strength to demote them from here. Team DQ were also promoted by 2 places having defeated Thompson Travel 19-9, consequently lowering Thompson from 6th to 7th. Ramsey’s 29-15 success ensured they held onto 4th place but Angels 2’s ability to find goal, secured 2 points as they narrowly found over half score by a single goal. Predictions: Toomraiders versus Angels 2 is no contest and will be great for racking up those all important goals. Either Ballasalla or Route 1 would have to lose for Toomraiders to move up the rankings, which isn’t on the cards this week as they face Missfits and Team DQ respectively. Thompson Travel currently lead Manx Glass Saints. They should celebrate a win and promotion this week but will need to be on the ball to secure it. Ramsey are also favourites against Angels 1 but expect a good effort from the Angels girls. Results: Ballasalls 46, Angels 1 7; Toomraiders 43, Manx Glass Saints 7; Team DQ 19, Thompson Travel 9; Route 1 26, Missfits 6; Ramsey 29, Angels 2 15. Fixtures: St Ninnian’s 6.15pm: Toomraiders v Angels 2 (Ct 1); Thompson Travel v Manx Glass Saints (Ct 2); Ballasalla v Missfits (Ct 3). 7.15pm: Angels 1 v Ramsey (Ct 1); Team DQ v Route 1 (Ct 3).
